Comparison: U.S. unemployment to Swiss

The company I work for in Switzerland laid off the entire EMEA accounting department in December.  Due to Swiss law (they have stronger employee laws here), most of my coworkers received anywhere from 5 to 13 months notice of when their jobs are ending.  Quite different than what happens in the States during restructuring!  Another big difference between the U.S. and Switzerland are the unemployment rates, as shown below.  If only the U.S. had the rate that Switzerland has right now...
